I was approached by an agent of a platform called Exness in January 2022. That afternoon, I spent three hours writing at a coffee shop in East Legon, Accra, Ghana. It was a blissful day.

I had planned to get my nails done and treat myself to a new fedora hat from a newly launched store in the hippest part of town, Osu. Instead, I spent the next two hours chatting with the agent dude from Exness.

His name is Anton, he’s tall, light-skinned, and muscular. His accent is Ghanaian mixed with a German twang.

He convinced me to sign up for an account with Exness. I did.

The next day, he called to discuss my plans for learning how to trade. I agreed to sign up for a course that would take place in central Accra. I set up my training days through the sign-up form he sent me and I was ready to learn forex trading.

I attended ten classes and I was ready to trade on my own. This is where it gets sticky.

Anton introduced me to another friend of his, a forex trading broker. The guy had set up an office in East Legon, a brand new, modern office complex in the heart of town. He recommended this guy as one of the best brokers in Accra and I agreed to take him on as my broker.
